RGBP Friday Five

It only seems fitting that this post, which is a milestone (200!!) for me, is a Friday Five. I haven't played them all, but they have been a consistent thread in my blog. Without further ado, here's the Friday Five -- courtesy of Songbird this week.

"My mother loved figs.

I only like them in a Newton.

It's all a matter of taste.

Name five things you like a lot that some close relative or significant other did/does not like. This could be food, movies, hobbies, music, sports or whatever springs to mind."

1. Roller Coasters. I love 'em -- the feeling of flip that my stomach does, the rush of the unknown, the clatter of the track. My beloved can't stand them and would rather watch from the ground below.

2. Reading. I can spend hours lost in a book. My mom can't sit still long enough to become engrossed in much more than a magazine.

3. I am much more touchy-feely, alternative medicine-y than most folks in my family. I could sense my husband crawling out of his skin when the midwife explained that they don't really know how the sterile water papules injected into my back would relieve back labor, but that they just do. However, he was very supportive of most of my decisions (I say most because he didn't especially want to consider a homebirth.)

4. Sweets. When it comes to an evening snack, I'll be eating my ice cream with chocolate sauce while he has his chips and salsa.

5. Fluffy movies -- romantic comedies, chick-flicks, previews that make me cry. While he will watch them for the good of the cause, he'd much rather watch something with a message or some action.

Pssst... In honor of my 200th post, a random commenter will receive a special celebratory gift in the mail! So, leave a comment on this post between now and midnight (CST), and I'll post the winner tomorrow! Shameless ploy for comments? Perhaps! Way to share the party? Absolutely!

Great way to celebrate your 200th! I'm wondering how ice cream with chocolate sauce topped with crushed chips and sprinkled with salsa would taste?

Congrats on the big 2-0-0!

On the sweets, it's funny. I used to be crazy for sweets, and the sweeter the better. But over the last 10 years or so, I'm not so much into them. I'd rather have a simple sugar cookie (or ginger snap) than an uber-sweet chocolate chip. And I've noticed that at meals, I'd rather have more roast beef or vegetables than have dessert after. My kids don't believe this will ever happen to them.

(Of course, the exception to the sweets thing is the chocolate-chip macaroon at the Nestle's cookie shop in the mall. This is heaven-on-earth, in cookie form. I tell my husband they're better than s*x, as he used to tell me Fuddrucker's burgers are. <g>)

See my problem is I would eat the chips and salsa... then get the ice cream and sauce.

And then maybe some popcorn.

Fun list. Congrats on 200.

Yes...how, exactly, does one get the befuddled husband to get on board with all things "mid-wifey"?! I remember the struggle well!

Happy 200!!

One day maybe we can watch a fluffy romantic comedy while eating Ben & Jerry's with choc sauce...it would be fun!
Congrats on reaching 200. You don't look old enough, honestly!

I'm also very alternative medicine-y.
I had to laugh when I read "sterile water papules" and realized that most people have probably never even heard of this.

Congrats on 200! And great play!

I liked the alternative medicine answer. R and I are similar. No home birth. No way. But otherwise, he went along with it.

Can't handle roller coasters now, although I used to as a kid.

I want chips and salsa for my meal, and THEN ice cream and choc sauce for dessert. :)

The "thin Man" wasn't impressed by my idea of a homebirth either. In the end he was spared to think about it any further. Being a high risk pregnancy we had to go to the hospital. (And to be honest I am not totally sure how I would have handled 31 hours of labor at home...)

Congrats to the 200th! Was fun to read.
